Books I’ve Read So Far in 2024
Here we are in June 2024, already halfway through the year. It’s been a year and a month since my last post on this blog. I’ve always loved the idea of this blog, and with my kids heading to elementary school next year, I’m feeling the need to carve out something for myself while they’re busy. So, here at the beginning of this summer, I’m ready to dive back into blogging and give it another shot.
Why not start with a bang:
What books have I read and do I recommend so far in 2024?
I keep track of all the books I read on GoodReads. FRIEND ME HERE!
My goal this year is to read 25 books. That’s a lot for me, let’s be honest, but right now I’m ahead of schedule! 4 books ahead, according to GoodReads. That’s 15 books already and planning to finish one today. So let’s call it 16 books!

The top books I’ve read & recommend (in no particular order):
Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah (Love KH so much)
The Women by Kristin Hannah (Probably the best book I will read all year)
The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides (for the thriller crowd)
Divine Rivals & Ruthless Vows by Rebecca Ross (for the YA crowd)
Fourth Wing & Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros (for the romance/fantasy crowd)
Books that were just OK:
Fairy Tale by Stephen King
Starling House by Alix E. Harrow
Virgins by Diana Gabaldon (part of the Outlander series)
Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover (Love CoHo but didn’t care for this book)
The Cruel Prince by Holly Black (YA)
Additionally, I am working my way through the Throne of Glass Series:
So far, I’ve read in this order (as there are a few different ways you can order Assassin’s Blade)
Throne of Glass (Book #1 I read in 2023)
Crown of Midnight (Book #2)
Assassin’s Blade (The Prologue book of Novellas)
Heir of Fire (Book #3)
Queen of Shadows (Book #4)
I really enjoy fantasy but I’m having trouble with Throne of Glass. My issue is that, when I read a book, I really want to connect and feel emotionally moved by the plot or the character arc. I am having trouble LOVING the series because the majority of this story lacks me feeling emotionally moved. But it is a fun adventure story, and I am enjoying it, overall.
That’s all I got for today! Happy reading and writing!
